Introducing the Stars of Tor View Press
Big B
Big B came to us from the Printer’s Cabin at Middlebury’s Bread Loaf School of English in Vermont. She is a Vandercook 17 circa 1920 and she is a beast! Fun fact—she prints backwards!!
Special thanks to John Vincent at a revolutionary press for all his help in her transition to the Hudson Valley.
Lowell
Lowell is a Vandercook SP15 named after Lowell Bodger, a prior owner and a master in using this press as a means for typographical exploration--do look him up if you do not know his work.
Thanks to Paul Moxon for helping to reassemble this unassuming powerhouse via zoom, and especially to Roni Gross, Lowell’s previous owner, and a wonderful teacher and mentor.
E3
A lovely little hot-foil, E3 previously hailed from Fish Island, London, and packs plenty of punch for a tabletop platen. Many thanks to Simon Goode and Ira Yonemura—the infallible proprietors of London Book Arts— for creating such a warm and inviting community workspace!
